Developer Disc Quest has released v1.0 of his game Blubird. The game can now be downloaded from the Games section.
For the past few days, Blu-Play developer MisthaLu has done extensive testing trying to make a Blu-Play game run from DVD - and failing miserably. The conclusion is that it's just not possible (anymore). While the Xbox One will run a Blu-Play game from a DVD - yes even from a CD - the only other Blu-ray players that supports the socalled BD-5 and BD-9 discs (Blu-ray content on a DVD) are the really old (and slow) players.
But is that a big loss? Not really. Looking at the prices for a blu-ray burner, they can be found for as little as € 20 EUR. And single layer BD-R discs can be found for roughly the same prices as dual layer DVD+R discs. (It had to be a dual layer DVD for "optimal" compatibility). So there's really no point in all the hassle with DVD's.
Blu-Play developer Disc Quest has been working on his first Blu-Play project for quite some time now. It's a clone of Flappy Bird called "Blubird". Check it out here.
Blu-Play developer Sleirsgoevy is working on a BD-J emulator called "Blu-Player". It's meant to be an alternative testing tool to the software media players like VLC, Kodi and PowerDVD. Check it out here.
Developer Sleirsgoevy, who recently ported Doom to Blu-Play, is at it again. This time he's porting the C64 emulator Frodo to the platform. There's already a first beta available for download to check out. Get it here.

PlayStationHaX forum user sleirsgoevy presents yet another example of a Cibyl MIPS-to-Java project: A Blu-Play version of Doom from 1993.
This is a very early preview, only demonstrating that it is absolutely doable to have Doom running as a Blu-Play game. Despite this only being an early preview, the framerate is fast and smooth already.
Download the disc folder structure here, ready to be burned to a BD-R or BD-RE.
Download the source code here.
